Hi, I’m Joel, the writer of Frugal Home A/V. I’ve always enjoyed the pursuit of audio and video excellence, but I’ve never had all that much money to spend on it.
As a young child I was very interested in electronics and music. Those interests stayed with me as I grew, and in 1998 I jumped into the live-audio mixing world. Since then I’ve learned skills like speaker placement, EQing, and gain structure setup; at the same time I became well versed in video technologies and troubleshooting. My current full-time job is in network engineering, so I like to use internet technology to maximize my A/V systems as well.
I’ve always strived to apply the principles and skills I learned from the A/V industry to my home systems while spending as little money as possible. I try to make wise choices with my finances, so I care a lot about getting the most for my A/V dollar.
Through this blog you will learn many techniques you can use to optimize your home A/V systems. I’ll also help you figure out the most cost-effective products to purchase for your next system build or upgrade. As new technologies come on to the market I will analyze them and inform you so that you can make educated decisions about new systems that you might want for your home.
If you’d like to contact me you can do so on the Contact page.
I hope you enjoy Frugal Home A/V.
